60 Hampers Ready to go! Minimize

This Sunday (13th December) saw Susan Gallagher, Sandra Church, Lily Rawding, Jean Shone, Stella Crowther, Jo Glover, and Len Rawding preparing and packing 60 hampers.

Every year members of St Mary’s Grantham Conference of the St Vincent de Paul Society (“SVP”) prepare Christmas Hampers for distribution to those less fortunate than ourselves in the local area.
Father Anthony Dolan, and Bob Adams, (Chairman South Kesteven District Council) came along to supervise the final stages but were not allowed to sample any of the products.

Len Rawding said “Thanks to the generosity of the St Mary’s parishioners we have been able to produce more hampers this year and put a little more in each. Every hamper contains a Christmas Cracker, pudding, Yule Log and mince pies as well as a selection of tinned fruit, soup, biscuits, sugar and cornflakes.”

Packing the hampers takes around 3 hours but the whole exercise is a little more challenging than that. First the local supermarkets had to be visited to work out the best buys, and remember that altogether Len’s shopping list was 1500 individual items!
Having done the shopping and packing, the hampers will now be distributed to Grantham Social Services, Swingbridge Surgery, St John’s Medical Centre, St Katherine’s Clinic, and the Surgery at Long Bennington.
