| | Carol Service 20 December 2009
| |
| | | |
On Sunday 20 December the parishioners, supported by the choir and a group of young musicians from the parish held a rousing Carol Service.
As well as the traditional English favourites, carols from Poland, Malta, Ireland and the Philippines were also featured.
The “Polish Kid’s Club” gave us “Z Narodzenia Jezusa Pana” (The birth of Jesus the Lord) which was followed by the Maltese carol “O Gesu Helwa Tarbija” (O Jesus, sweet Baby).
From Ireland Patricia Finney, P.J. Boyle and Philomena Davies sang “Oiche Chiun” which everybody recognised as “Silent Night”, and finally “Himig Pasko” (Christmas Tune) from the Philippines completed the international Quartet.
To add to the international flavour Canon Anthony Dolan read the Prologue to St. John’s Gospel in Greek.
Afterwards everybody joined the parishioners from Poland and the Philippines for some traditional refreshments which they had kindly provided.
